Why that word, Professor Gates?
Recrimination: 1. the act of recriminating; the meeting of one accusation with another. 2. in law, an accusation brought by the accused against the accuser; a countercharge. (Websters New Universal Unabridged Dictionary, 2nd Edition, latest copyright 1983.)
Might be that Gates is feeling a bit leary over the undying (and hopefully not!) backlash from those he has vehemently insulted--i.e. a whole segment of America?! Well I do hope the fervor is kept alive until racism and the REAL racists are forced to admit that is themselves reflected in their own mirror!
This nonsense has got to stop, and it could in our time if those like Gates--and Obama--with influence and a constant audience of new thinkers, would only make it so. But instead they choose to thrive on the negative, making that platform Mr. Obama campainged on of being "post-racial" very weak indeed. To tout yourself as from the highest levels ("don't you know who I am?")--and be accomplished--no doubt, through mandated programs you support which encourage your inclusion--but then to talk to a police officer doing his job as if you have never left "the hood" (their term of endearment for where they came from--not mine!): how sad. How pathetic your display of "progress", Mr. Gates and Barack Obama.
So you say 'no need for recrimination...' Mr. Gates, since you have yet to apologize for your accusation that Officer Crowley arrested you because he was being racist towards you, is this suggestion of no recrimination your way, then, of admitting your accusations to be false and regrettable?
Gates and Obama, how about a real apology? ...to us all.
