Correction to spelling of "Jarrett Maupin" , "civility board", March 04, 2011

Early in the month of February, I tweeted John Quinones of ABC News, George Stephanopoulos, Disney, and ABC on the “smut” piece they produced to spin the story on Arizona Senate bill SB1070, and the so-called ill treatment of Hispanics as a whole throughout Arizona.

He replied, saying I was “ugly name-calling.”

@PatriotMsngr @GMA So sad that when we try to start a conversation - looking at BOTH sides of an issue -it dissolves into ugly name-calling.

Somehow he thought—with his media “tripe”--he was only trying to “start a conversation”, what--with his mean-spirited depiction of civility in Arizona ‘genned-up’ as a result of “one angry viewer” who had called him following his airing of a similar New Jersey defamation attempt.



Quinones, in the opening of his Arizona piece, quickly--and with excellent media “brush-off” effort--specifies that the Arizona SB1070 law “…requires police in the course of enforcing a law to ask people they suspect might be illegal immigrants to show their IDs.” It is the “in the course of enforcing a law” part that they like to de-emphasize so it sounds as if people are just pulled aside in the course of their daily lives and racially profiled to determine if they are here illegally!

Am I hugely offended to see these outsiders like John Quinones of ABC Good Morning America, (Al Sharpton, Lady GaGa, and others), come here to support false rhetoric behind a now necessary law; spew their negativity about the place in which I was born; and even after facts are presented continue to falsely portray it? Yep: and they are ASSHOLES to do it!



There, I said it! And the only person I apologize to is my Mother, who did not teach me to “call names” like that at people though they exude nastiness such as his!



To his surprise Quinones’ little stint back-fired as the residents of Tucson were true to who I knew they are: civil, respectful, fair-minded people--and NOT Racists!



Good Morning America stages this scenario at what they described as a “popular” restaurant, BK Carne Asada and Hotdogs, in Tucson. Having been born, raised, and decidedly remain in Arizona--living in Tucson while attending the University of Arizona, then after graduation for employment in nearby Casa Grande; now frequently visiting Tucson for getaway stays with family that resides there, or just to go to eat good Mexican food(!)—I’d say I know Tucson generally well: and the ABC News "What Would You Do?" piece is a ridiculous and false depiction of anything that dare happen in Tucson!



‘George and John’ decided to portray things here as if White-on-Hispanic, and general White-on-minority hate-speech and -thought runs rampant in the public places all over lil’ ole’ Arizona towns and cities. John Quinones proceeded to use the agree-to, media-spun, liberal brainwash that Whites are willing to profile Hispanics and Mexicans …for no apparent reason!



It gives them pleasure, John Quinones and the Liberal media, to try to push the belief that if certain “groups” are asked to follow certain laws, and if that “certain” group is a “Minority” group, then there must be a “racist” application behind that request.



It couldn’t be that this “group”—“Mexican Illegal Immigrants in Arizona”--has followed ‘Leaders’ like Elias Bermudas, Salvador Reza, Alfredo Gutierrez, Sunita Patel, Reverend Susan Frederick-Gray, Ed Pastor, Jarrett Maupin, and other self-serving “ass_ _ _ _s” who openly encourage them to not comply with currently existing, common Immigration laws; then they challenge the adoption of SPECIAL laws that then have to be created to “nudge” those “certain” minority groups to comply with the existing laws!



Quinones was glad to have gotten the backing of Sherriff Tony Estrada of Nogales, and of having convinced some of his unsuspected participants THIS is how racial profiling is ‘done’ in Arizona, and that they should view the SB1070 law differently and with suspect. He also got support in falsely indicating Arizona’s SB 1070 was not currently an official law in effect!



“Over two days of filming, we were amazed to see dozens of people stepping up when witnessing racial profiling in action. All kinds of people intervened -- in fact, the majority were non-Hispanic. Despite the fact that the anti-immigration law seems popular in Arizona, we didn't see any evidence of it in this Tucson restaurant. “



“ASS_ _ _ _S!” That was enough to get a comment from John Quinones who copied the tweet to ABC and its followers. I was not very “civil”, was I?



As a self-proclaimed “practitioner” of “human civility” –first, (which is how those who know me would indeed describe me), and a budding “Writer” –second, I know that it is improper to use language like that and be taken seriously. But I have become absolutely incensed at the lies and mischaracterizations I see from the so-called “major news” networks whose reporting ultimately reaches those “groups” who will watch and believe the negative spin from the “trusted news source” they claim to be!



What John Quinones and ABC News won’t report on, is, the likelihood of a scenario like this having a greater chance of occurring when Whites and others, go into the community in the south-most part of Tucson that is an incorporated Hispanic community known as “South Tucson.” There—and in known parts of Tucson, and Phoenix, in neighborhoods which have chosen to become “self-segregated” communities, and in the outskirts on sovereign Indian lands, Whites have actually been treated as Quinones falsely depicts the Mexicans are supposedly treated! I know this from personal experience, ‘truth be told’ whether George and John can handle it or not!



Then, to heap on the defamation of Arizona, the oldest university which I once prided myself in having graduated from, illegitimately latches on to the coattails of one of America’s most horrible tragedies--drawing in big names to draw attention to themselves and foster funds for a “civility” in “discourse” board, the National Institute for Civil Discourse. This falls right in line with this defamation piece by Quinones, as The University of Arizona, the liberal media, and others ‘use’ this gentle city (which I happen to love) to portray Arizona as having a bunch of out-of-control Whites law officials out harassing minorities who are simply eating in restaurants; and as such an awful place to be to such extent that it drives young men to harm Legislators and masses of innocent people at a public events!



Really despicable--the huge lie that it ALL is; and devised by people with self-serving, ill intended agendas; or invalid and irrelevant opinions of the situation (the impact of Illegal Immigration to the citizens of Arizona). The University of Arizona knows its own history of acceptance and education to anyone who attended--regardless of Race; and SHOULD well know that there are LEGAL requirements to earn the citizenship or temporary student-citizenship status required to attend the university!

Thanks to legitimate media reporting, and the Internet, it was made known the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was not about “hate-speech”! It was not about “Illegal immigration”, “minorities”, or “racism!” It was not even about “Arizona”. (Why the UofA would want to open a can of worms, and become the subject of public scrutiny, believing that to “study” and discuss--from personal viewpoints of participants, how people should relate when they disagree--irrelevant to any particular issue at hand, they can determine how disagreement or “discourse” is handled, is absurd! “Civil Discourse” is never “accomplished”, since if there will always be something new to disagree about?!)



If people did not generally disagree, then this “civility board” in Tucson would not be necessary—right?



Civil: “polite, but in a way that is cold and formal” (Encarta English NA)



Discourse: “serious discussion about something between people or groups” (Encarta English NA)



So am I being “uncivil” to be truthful and say frankly: “not much of what the National Institute for Civil Discourse would conclude would impact a person like me”, who is clear, relevant, thought-out, and frank about my opinion of Liberals and Progressivism, their policies, practices, and beliefs: I just clearly and specifically DISAGREE!

And, we will just have to “agree to disagree” because we have a hugely different set of values and opinions--“Conservatives” from “Liberals”--and I find very few liberal ideas adoptable in my way of thinking and living. I thank GOD I was born an American and have the RIGHT to choose a stance (on how to live) now made highly political!



So I choose the “Conservative” belief, that if more people took personal responsibility--and community civility--seriously we would be able to limit government controls on so many micro-aspects of our lives. Our Federal Government could leave “civility” discussions to the community and neighborhood associations--and how about Church?!; and turn their much-needed focus on the grander issues which we would expect of them, like our national security, shared public resources, and the limited aspects of educational, professional, and business regulation for which they might be of benefit—one example being, common application of “standards” so all can achieve uniformly accepted “certification” of accomplishments and certain common efforts like “high-quality education for all children”.



But instead, the liberal media—by falsely reporting and continuing to stir unjust rhetoric--encourages this President to stay involved as a “community activist” in local affairs, rather than addressing and affecting the big issues commonly affecting our country.



Arizona has its roots in the OBVIOUS Mexican- and South American- influence inherited from its beginning! This is conveniently left out of stories on Arizona by the Liberal, Democrat- supporting media that needs to continue the story of “minority underachievement due to racial divide” across our country. But, then, that entire story is a set of lies the media created to spurn record sales to the kids of the ‘90s—singing hip-hop and acting the woes of their ex-hippie parents who continued to blame White america and the government for not becoming rich overnight without working hard for it! Different topic: no! This group “adopted” a story line from the few legitimate entertainers (mostly “Rappers”) who were telling their tale of hard luck, and the Hollywood and liberal media encouraged and perpetuated the story-line to advance their movie scripts, music deals, …and now their political-commentary aspirations!



If bigotry, racism and hate exist so prevalently in Arizona it is no more existent and no more threatening than anything John has seen in his part of the country! Has John done a piece on the racial profiling in Texas?!



One thing I DO KNOW about Arizona is the persons in charge of our local safety and security are doing a great job of keeping our communities safe so we can enjoy our neighbors, our neighborhoods, and our city--without living in fear of racial hate crime!



And where issues are not always a law enforcement concern, “the people here take care of it, man-to-man”, as I’ve heard said. It was just this weekend my friends described adamantly about how White Americans pride themselves in NOT having their majority approve of the formation of incendiary groups and “gangs”; and how Whites in America ‘take care of their own’ in the continued eradication of the Ku Klux Klan, Skinheads, Aryan groups, and such—just as they did the Slave-owners! Intimidation due to racial difference in ‘the Valley’, especially from Whites upon others, is just not prevalent and is falsely reported by the likes of John Quinones …and any of his Arizona SB1070 counterparts (local and otherwise).



Well John, I’m not changing--nor do I apologize for--my opinion of you, ABC News, Good Morning America, John Stephanopoulos, or Disney. You ALL have been responsible for “yellow journalism” in your recent broadcasts (even to the children, Disney). You should be the first to be scrutinized by Tucson’s new “civility Institute” for your inflammatory “conversation” used in pieces like this which you’ve produce here in Arizona to make what became an invalid point. Not that I need to be justified via comparison, but I was no more “ugly” than one of your unsuspected test cases as he shouted out before realizing he has being filmed for your “show”: "I wouldn't say you're a good American. I'd say you're an ass!"
